NSS Unit of P.D Bharatesh College of Nursing Halaga, Belagavi had organized Guest lecture on “Women’s Mental Health : Issues and Challenges” on the occasion of International Women’s Day on 8th March 2021 under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Sangeeta A Moreshwar, Principal, P.D Bharatesh College of Nursing, Halaga, Belagavi.
The objective of the guest lecture was to create awareness regarding mental health related issues and challenges from the perspective of women. The chief guest and guest speaker for the International Women’s Day celebration was Dr.Sreevani Rentala, Professor & HOD , Department of Psychiatric Nursing ,DIMHANS, Dharwad. The guest of Honor was Dr.Savitri. R Dodannavar, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Administrator, Deccan Medical Centre, Belagavi.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries. Prof. Dr. Sangeeta A Moreshwar, Principal, P.D Bharatesh College of Nursing, Halaga, Belagavi delivered the welcome address. Dr.Sreevani Rentala, highlighted the gender difference from the perspective of mental health, common mental health issues among women and how to cope up with those problems. Dr. Savitri. R Dodannavar addressed the gathering on importance of discipline and interpersonal relationship with other health care team members.
The programme came to end by the vote of thanks by Mrs.Vijayalaxmi AH, Assoc.Professor, P.D Bharatesh College of Nursing, Halaga, Belagavi.
All the teaching, non-teaching staffs and students attended the programme.

P.D. Bharatesh college of Nursing, Halaga, Belagavi, Department of Medical Surgical Nursing organized Health awareness/education on Cancer disease on the eve of World Cancer Day on 4th February 2021 with the Theme: “I am & I Will” at Kondaskoppa Village, Belagavi.
Globally, Cancer is the second leading cause of death and is responsible for an estimated 9.6 million deaths in 2018. The International Agency for Research on Cancer estimates that 1 in 5 people develop cancer during their lifetime, and 1 in 8 men and 1 in 11 women die from the disease. These new estimates suggest that more than 50 million people are living within five years of a past cancer diagnosis. In India 1,68,122 people and in Karnataka 20,084 people are diagnosed Cancer (ICMR atlas Publication).
Looking into statistics, Role play was performed by 3rd year B.Sc Nursing & 2nd year GNM Nursing students on Meaning, types, causes, diagnosis, treatment modalities and preventive measures of Cancer. More than 100 beneficiaries from the Kondaskoppa village were benefitted from the programme.
