P.D. Bharatesh college of Nursing, Halaga, Belagavi, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing celebrated International Midwives Day -2022 on 5th May 2022 at Halaga Village, Belagavi.
Midwives provide care during pregnancy and birth, facilitating positive birth experiences as well as safe, effective and comprehensive abortion services. Investments in the midwifery workforce can help improve health outcomes, favor inclusive and equitable growth, facilitate economic stabilization, and have a positive macroeconomic impact. More women would receive high quality sexual and reproductive health care and rights. To join our forces and to recognize and appreciation to midwives we have organized a role play on respectful midwifery care. Through the role-play we have created awareness about midwifery services which are offered to all females keeping in view about elements of respectful approach. In role play we have created two scenarios like earlier scenario of midwifery care and present scenario of midwifery care based on culture of respect, discrimination, behaviour, stereotypes, harassment, medical expenditure and communication. Also we encouraged females to opt better midwifery care as it is the right of each and every individual female. More than 35 females from the Halaga village were benefitted from the programme.
The programme was followed under the Guidance and Supervision by Prof. Dr. Sangeeta A. Moreshwar Principal, P. D. Bharatesh College of Nursing Halaga, Belagavi.
