The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Parshwanath Doddanavar Bharatesh College of Nursing, Halaga, Belagavi organized a seven-day Special NSS Camp at K K Kopp Village, Belagavi, from 7th February 2026 to 14th February 2026  with the objective of promotion of community health, social responsibility, and awareness among rural populations while instilling the spirit of service among NSS volunteers.

The inauguration of the NSS Special Camp was held on 7th February 2026 at K K Kopp Village in the presence of dignitaries and local community members.

The dignitaries addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of community service, health awareness, and the role of youth in nation-building.

Throughout the camp duration, NSS volunteers will actively participate in various health-oriented and social welfare activities, which include:

• School Health Check-up
• Swachhata Abhiyan (Cleanliness Drive)
• General Health Check-up for villagers
• Geriatric Health Check-up
• Screening for Anaemia
• Screening for Cancer among individuals of reproductive age

 

A one-day workshop on “Scholarly Publishing: Writing a Research Paper” was successfully organized on February 2, 2026, at P. D. Bharatesh College of Nursing, Belagavi, with the aim of strengthening research writing and publication skills among faculty members and students.

The programme was inaugurated in the august presence of Dr. B. V. Kathyayani, Professor-cum-Principal, NIMHANS College of Nursing, Bangalore, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In her keynote address, Dr. Kathyayani highlighted the significance of scholarly publishing, ethical research practices, and systematic scientific writing. She emphasized the role of quality research publications in advancing nursing education and healthcare practice.

The programme was presided over by Shri Shripal Khemlapure Sir, Vice Chairman, Bharatesh Education Trust, who encouraged faculty and students to actively engage in research and contribute to evidence-based practice.

Shri Bhushan Mirji, Treasurer, Bharatesh Education Trust, in his address, emphasized the Trust’s commitment towards promoting academic excellence and fostering a strong research culture through such academic initiatives.

Dr. Savitri Dodannavar, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Director of Deccan Medical Centre, and Governing Council Chairperson, P. D. Bharatesh College of Nursing, graced the programme and motivated the participants to pursue quality research and scholarly publications in healthcare sciences.

Parshwanath Doddanavar Bharatesh College of Nursing, Halaga, Belagavi, under the aegis of Bharatesh Education Trust, organized the Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony for the 22nd Batch of B.Sc. Nursing and the 7th Batch of GNM Nursing students on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 9:30 AM in the College Auditorium, Vindhyagiri Campus.

The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of the nursing students as they formally stepped into the noble profession of nursing. The traditional lamp lighting ceremony symbolized the guiding light of Florence Nightingale and the spirit of compassion, dedication, and selfless service.

Dr. I. P. Gadad, District Health & Family Welfare Officer, Belagavi, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his keynote address, he emphasized the vital role of nurses in strengthening healthcare services and encouraged students to uphold professional ethics, empathy, and commitment in their service to humanity.

The program was presided over by Dr. Vinod Doddanavar, Secretary, Bharatesh Education Trust, Belagavi, who motivated the students to maintain discipline, dedication, and a strong sense of responsibility in their nursing career.

Dr. Savitri R. Doddanavar, Consultant Gynaecologist & Obstetrician and G.C. Chairperson, addressed the gathering and inspired the budding nurses to serve with compassion and integrity. She highlighted the importance of patient-centered care, effective communication, and lifelong learning in the healthcare profession.
